Gary Tanguay is feeling good about himself. He made a prediction. It happened. And, well, because he told you…people.
The 98.5 The Sports Hub host and Sports Tonight mainstay predicted Red Sox closer Jon Papelbon would leave Boston. He was right and wanted to make sure he told you so, on Twitter.
@Gary_Tanguay Pap gone. Told ya people. Too bad.
I’ve defended the Tanger at great lengths. I contend he is mis-cast as a talking head, and is better used simply as a host. Take some notes from Tom Caron. Stay your lane, Gary.
This week Tanguay talked in generalities about the NBA lockout on Sports Tonight. This led me to believe he doesn’t really know the even the minutia of the matter. Saying “I don’t think they’re close” is like saying, “I think Jerry Sandusky is a bad guy.”
If you want to get real perspective on the matter, I suggest listening to Bill Simmons’ podcast with Marc Stein and Rick Bucher. It’s two hours long (in two parts), but they dissect the situation from nearly every vantage point.

Another classic Tanguay from this week as he mentioned the terrible drafts the Pats have had since Pioli left. Dude, do your homework. They’ve actually been better.
